bio

Drew Verbis is a feature photojournalist, musicologist and award-winning radio presenter. He was raised as a third-culture kid. He researches Terror Management Theory at Grand Canyon State University. He received his Master’s Degrees from the University of Oklahoma.

Drew is a 7th generation first-born male uniformed service member. He served with the Navy in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan: 2010, 2012, 2013. He was in theatre during the Camp Bastion Raid.

Drew is a voting member at-large of the Recording Academy which presents the music industry's most distinguished achievement, the Grammy Award.

 

Drew has produced records for R.L. Burnside, Louisiana Red and Robert Lockwood Jr. He also worked on the last album by Mojo Buford. He has toured with R.L. Burnside, T-Model Ford, Henry Gray and Louisiana Red. Drew has assisted in studio production with Little Milton, Pinetop Perkins, Lazy Lester and dozens more. Drew worked for NPR affiliate KJZZ for 9-years. Currently, his syndicated radio series is heard on 80 stations. Drew has interviewed 100’s of artists and music icons such as B.B. King, Ray Charles, Ruth Brown, Jimmy Smith and Ben Harper.

Drew is an avid kick-boxer who currently resides in Naples, Italy.
